- Clarence Arneson was a farmer most of his life, having farmed the old Arneson homestead 4 1/2 miles west of Hayti, SD all of his life, except for two years spent in the signal corp of the Army in France during World War 1. Clarence was a public spirited man, having served on the school board, rural electric board, county AAA (farm program committee) until his untimely death in a fall from a windmill.
Clarence and Pearl's sons all remain in the area: Baine and Glenn in farming and electrical contracting work, Charles in newspapering and now county Clerk of Courts, and Ray in farming and creamery employee.
