  Notes	By his Will he appointed his wife, Elizabeth and son, Richard as Executors and Trustees. He left all his personal estate to his Trustees upon trust to pay the income to his wife during her life for the maintenance of herself and their six younger children, Richard, Agnes, Titus, Thomas, William and David. He also authorised his Trustees to carry on the farm at Langthwaite and, from the profits, to pay to his son, Richard, a reasonable allowance for management and to pay the remaining profits to his wife for the maintenance of herself and the six younger children. After the death of his wife the residue of the personal estate was to be divided equally between the six younger children. At the time of the 1851 Census she was continuing to run her late husbands farm at Lower Langthwaite but, by the time of the 1861 Census, she had retired from farming and was living at Holly Hill, Forton, Lancashire.
