James K. and Adelia Jane (Abernethy) Wells

Obituary - James K. Wells

James K Wells was born in Canada, on June 29, 1849 and came to Mayville April 26 1855 with his parents. He was united in mariage to Adelia Abernethy in April 1877, and five children were born to this union. Mrs. E. F. Beardsley, of Millington, Edson Wells, Charles & Albert at home, Mrs. Hillary Craig, and Frank who died Jan 24, 1903. He also leaves one brother, Richard Wells, of Fremont, and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Walker of Mayville and Betsy Colosky of Vassar, and nine grandchildren to mourn his loss. He settled in North Fremont in 1872 where he resided at the time of his death, June 20, 1921. The funeral services were held at the Barton School house, Rev. S. B. Walt of Unionville officiated.

Obituary - Adelia Jane Abernethy

Miss. Adelia Abernethy was born in Iowa, July 22, 1862 and passed away March 9, 1929. In 1872 she moved to Michigan and in April of 1877, was united in marriage to Jas. K. Wells of Fremont Township.

Five children were born to this union, Mrs. E. F. Beardsley of Vassar, Edson Wells of Flint, Mrs. Hillary Craig of this place, and Albert Wells who lived at home with his mother. One son, Frank died in Jan., 1903. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. D. Earle of Frederic, and two brothers, Esrom of Flint and Marion of Bellingham, Washington. One sister, Mrs. Simon Ailing died on July 1, 1917.

She was an active member of the Forest Lawn M. P. church until failing health prevented her from doing so much, but her daily life and kind acts to her neighbors will never be forgotten.

Funeral services were held at the Barton School House on, March 12th. Rev. Hudkins officiating with interment in Mayville Cemetery. Relatives were present from Flint, Caro, Saginaw, Midland, Frederic and Vassar.

A precious one has from us gone,
A voice we loved is still,
A place is vacant in our home,
Which never can be filled.
