Obituaries of Gottfried Almer and Maria Lobe
Obituary- Harvey Herald, May 24, 1945
Gottfried Almer, 75, died in the hospital at Jamestown, May 20. He was born Jan 14, 1870 in North Russia and came to this country as a boy of 14.
Services will be held today (Thursday) at the Mennonite Brethern church with Rev. Koppel officiating. Burial will be made in the family plot in the Mennonite cemetery.
The deceased is survived by one brother, Andrew, of Anamoose, and one sister, Eva Almer, living in California; also a half brother, Ferdinand Moldenhauer of Goodrich and a half sister, Mrs. Emanuel Knecht of Hurdsfield.
Mrs. Edwin Faul, Harvey, is an adopted daughter. He was preceded in death by Mrs. Almer [first wife, not Mary Lobe, BRP] who died in 1937.
Obituary: In Memory of Maria Almer
Maria Lobe was born July 22, 1877 at Kulm, White Russia to Daniel and Louise Lobe and passed away Friday, January 31, 1969 at Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
She was married to Gottlieb Beck [should be Bich] in 1900 in Russia and came to the United States in 1901 when they settled at Harvey, North Dakota. They lived there until 1923 when they moved to Saskatchewan, Canada. Gottlieb passed away in 1932 and the family returned to Harvey, North Dakota where they lived until 1940 when they moved to Garretson, South Dakota.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Mrs. John Franka (Bertha), Mrs Chris Jans [Janz] (Sara) of Garretson, Mrs. Herman Heller (Lydia) of Hurdsfield, N. D.; 2 brothers, John Lobe, Cold Lake, Alberta, Canada, Lydia Vick [Bich] of Saskatchewan and Rebecca Bassler of Germany; 14 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
