Mrs. G. J. Leischner met with a painful accident last Wednesday night that confined her to her home for several days. While assisting in backing their sedan out of the garage she slipped and fell on the hub of one of the wheels and severely bruised and cut both lower limbs. She was confined to her home for several days, but is again able to be out.

PARKSTON ADVANCE PAPER, PARKSTON, SOUTH DAKOTA, JANUARY 1, 1925
ANNIVERSARY SURPRISE FOR MR. AND MRS. G.J. LEISCHNER

Miss. Vera Leischner surprised her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. J. Leischner, at their home on Sunday, December 21st, by preparing and serving a delightful dinner, the occasion being their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. When Mr. and Mrs. Leischner returned from church they found their home transformed into a place of beauty. Silver trimmings were used in abundance about the rooms and for the table decoration. Place cards, nut cups, lighted candles and pale pink and white roses and carnations in silver vases were used on the table and about the rooms. Boxes of bonbons tied with silver ribbon were the favors.

Mrs. Leischner was presented with a beautiful diamond ring from the family.

The following dispatch taken from a Lodi, California, paper concerns Mr. and Mrs. G. J. Leischner, who have many friends in Parkston and who will extend congratulations on this happy occasion, and will wish for them many more anniversaries.

The account follows:

"Their "Ruby" wedding anniversary - 40th- was celebrated by Mr. and Mrs. G. J. Leischner on Monday evening at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. H.G. Gaskill, on south School street."

"Dinner was served at a table decorated with red roses and red tapers on the candelabra, with a miniature bride and groom. A white wedding cake decorated with red roses and a large red "40" honored the Leischners. Desert was ice cream molded in the form of red bells."

"Gifts from the guests were presented Mrs. Leischner by Mrs. Gaskill, only child of the couple. Mrs. Leischner received a corsage bouquet of red carnations, and Mrs. Leischner a carnation boutonniere from Mr. and Mrs. Gaskill. A gift was received form Mrs. Leischner's only sister, Mrs. Matt Doyle of South Dakota."

"A decorated Christmas tree was in the home, and miniature figures at the fireplace depicted Biblical stories."

"Guests were Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Gaskill, Mr. and Mrs. George Chrisman, Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Smart all of Clements; Gerald G. Smart of Stockton; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fore, Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Tolliver, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Cain, Ed Lobe, Mr. and Mrs. Leischner and the host and hostess."

"The honored couple were married in the German Baptist church of Parkston, South Dakota, by the Rev. Liebig, forty years ago. They have lived in California for the past ten years, and their home is at 120 South Washington street in Lodi."

G. J. Leischner has sold his residence property on Main street, formerly the John Schmierer home, to Dr. E. R. Doering, Mr. Leischner taking the Doering property in the west part of town in the exchange.

LEISCHNER FAMILY ENJOYING VISIT IN CALIFORNIA June 15, 1930

The following letter was received from G. J. Leischner, from Los Angeles, California, under date of May 26th:

Dear friend John: Please mail the Parkston Advance to me at 325 East Elm, Lodi, California, as we expect to get there about two weeks from now. We are enjoying our trip; the roads were bad in some places. We had to change our route when we got to Denver, as the report was bad roads and snow by way of Salt Lake City, so we did not go that way. We went south of Denver on the southern route, crossing the mountains. One day we drove 150 miles in snow and rain, slippery roads so that we had to put the chains on for a while.

We are feeling fine. We were at the ocean beach for a few days, looking at the ocean waves coming to the shore, where 1,000 people are going in the ocean bathing. There is very much to see here.
